Privacy Policy

Movanta ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Heretoo mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the App.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you disagree, please stop using the App.


1. Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to make the App work. Nothing else.

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: your name, email address, and WhatsApp phone number when you create an account.
  • Trip declarations: city, country, dates, confirmation level, and private notes for each trip you add.
  • Friend connections: the list of friends you accept on the App.
  • Profile preferences: your match radius preference and any profile updates.

Information collected automatically

  • Geographic coordinates of cities you declare: when you select a city, we save its latitude and longitude (from a public geocoding service) so we can compute when your trips overlap with friends' trips.
  • Device push token: an opaque identifier issued by Apple/Google that lets us send you push notifications. It is not your phone number or email.
  • Device information: operating system and version, used only for support and bug investigation.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your real-time location.
  • We do not access your photos, microphone, or camera.
  • We do not collect your full contacts list. When you use "Pick a contact" to invite a friend, you select one contact via your device's native picker — only the data of that single selected contact is shared with the App.
  • We do not read your messages, emails, or browsing history.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data exclusively to:

  • Authenticate your account and keep your session active.
  • Compute trip overlaps with your accepted friends, based on geographic proximity and dates.
  • Send you push notifications when a match is detected.
  • Display your friends' relevant trip data inside the App (city, dates, confirmation level) so you can decide whether to reach out.
  • Provide customer support if you contact us.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, behavioral analytics, or sale to third parties.


3. How We Share Your Information

We share information only with service providers strictly required to operate the App:

Each provider has its own privacy policy that you can review on their website.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not share your data with advertisers, brokers, or marketing partners.


4. Visibility Inside the App

What other users can see about you:

  • Your name is visible to other users you accept as friends, and on incoming friend requests.
  • Your email address is visible to other users only if they explicitly enter your email to send you a friend request. It is shown to accepted friends.
  • Your WhatsApp number is shared with accepted friends so they can contact you when a match is detected. They cannot see your number until you accept their friend request.
  • Your trip details (city, dates, confirmation level) are visible only to your accepted friends.
  • Your private notes on each trip are never visible to anyone but you.

5. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account through the App (Settings → Delete account), we erase all of your data immediately and irreversibly, including:

  • Your profile and authentication
  • All your trips
  • All your friendships
  • All match records involving you
  • All your stored push tokens

After deletion, we cannot recover your account.


6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you. Email us and we'll send a copy.
  • Correct inaccurate information. Most fields are editable directly in the App.
  • Delete your account and all associated data. Use Settings → Delete account inside the App, or email us.
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Additional rights for California residents (CCPA)

You have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information.

Additional rights for European users (GDPR)

You have the right to object to processing, restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (for optional features) and the performance of our contract with you (for core functionality).

7. Security

We protect your data using:

  • TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit
  • Encryption at rest in our database
  • Row-level security policies that prevent users from accessing each other's private data
  • Authentication tokens that expire and refresh automatically
  • Strict secret management for our service provider credentials

No system is 100% secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours.


8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover that we have collected data from a user under 13, we will delete it promptly. Parents who believe their child has provided us with information may contact us at privacy@heretooapp.com.


9. International Transfers

We are headquartered in the United States. Your data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.


10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you through the App or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
